Pink Petals Baby Dress - PATTERN
*Please note: This dress consists of two patterns combined. The first part is the top, or what I refer to here as the “bib”. It is taken directly from THIS pattern by Cassie Hennen and reprinted here with her permission. The bottom part…the skirt…is my own creation. This is a free pattern and can be shared under the condition that you provide a link back to this blog post.
MATERIALS
- 2 skeins Red Heart Soft Yarn or Bernat Satin (Pictured here: MC for bib - Bernat Satin “Flamingo”, CC for skirt - RHSY “Grape”)
- size H crochet hook
- yarn needle
- 2 buttons
- contrasting ribbon (optional)
*Pattern note: The dress pictured was made using sizing given for 18 months old. I feel that it turned out smaller than that and is more fitting for a 12 month size. However, if you have any questions regarding the sizing please feel free to ask myself or Cassie, whose contact information can be found at the link to her pattern provided above.
PATTERN - Size 12 months
*Stitch note: for the bib, the scalloped edge shaping created by the (sc, ch2, hdc) is referred to as an “S-edge cluster”.

Cute baby dress!! Thanks for the tutorial!! Specially, It's color choice is fantastic!!
I liked your pattern very much and am aready half way through the Bib. but i am getting more than 55 s-edge clusters in the 3rd row itself. could you please tell me how many s-shape clusters i shoul get in each row. this might help in knowing where i have gone wrong.
Preethi: I unfortunately do not recall the number of s-edge clusters there should be per row. I'm so sorry. This dress, as you read, was not the easiest thing to make and it was so long ago now that the exact details escape me. I hope you have good luck! There is a link at the top of my post to the original designer's page for the dress (Cassie). She was VERY helpful when I was having trouble so I'm sure she could better assist you. Sorry again!
This is so cute...and i already know who to make it for...thanks for sharing it...beautiful job
Thanks, LadyBug! I hope you have fun making it. :)

This seems to be a great site for purchasing stuff for kids like baby whole sale clothing with fine quality - available with all top brands Barbie, Ben 10, Disney, Peppa Pig, etc.and i would surely like to try their service...i had been relying on http://www.1stkidswholesale.co.uk earlier and they too offered good stuff.
Hi!
I just made this dress! It's completely adorable. The only problem is that I found it was even smaller than a 12mo. It might fit a 3-6mo. My daughter is almost 6 months old and she doesn't fit in that dress at all! I'll give it to my friend instead!
Hello!!! I'm somewhat of a beginner with crochet. But I have tackled several projects and I'm ready for this one. I have a question though..
(sc, ch2, hdc)
Is that all in the same stitch? Or is it sc..ch2 and then the hdc in the next stitch?
Sorry for the stupid question!
To M:
Don't be sorry, there are no stupid questions. I was confused about the ins and outs of all of this for a long time (and still am - lol).
Yes, the (sc, ch2, hdc) is all done into the same stitch, not into 2 separate stitches.
Let me know when you post a pic of yours! :)
Woo! I have finished the Bib. I think I have gone wrong somewhere though...
I am on row 14 and the CC is going all around the bib. By following the picture it seems as if I messed up but I can't figure out where.

http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae356/Mcn89/Crochet/Bib2.jpg
The entire time I thought I was doing good and bam lol I am stuck! Do you have any suggestions?
For M:
In looking at the pics you sent, it seems you have not done the short "body" section that goes between the bib and the skirt. It looks like vertical ovals, which connect the bib to the skirt. The body part should be in the same color as the bib, as shown in my previous post here: http://whittsknits.blogspot.com/2007/07/baby-dress-aka-who-knew-crocheting.html
I hope that helps. I don't *think* I've left those instructions off the pattern but apologize if I did!
Sorry for the back and forth. This transition is killing me! But I am determined to figure this out and hopefully have the dress done by tonight. Once I can get that middle part of he dress figured out I should be good..now I just need to unravel..I think I'm going to start over from row 11 and see where that takes me. Thanks for all your help and I'll be sure to post a picture if I get it done any time soon!

http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae356/Mcn89/Crochet/002.jpg
Just need to add a brown ribbon to the middle :)
M:
The dress looks so good! I love your color combo! Great job. So...my pattern is written correctly then? I want to make sure I didn't omit the "body" part with the eyelet ovals that connect the bib to the skirt.
I just was "over" crocheted. I needed a break and after I stopped and took a breather I figured it out.
I am so happy that it came out looking somewhat decent, I can't wait to make another one. Thanks for the pattern and for the help along the way! :)
Muito lindo!

this is so cute, thanks for sharing! I wish I'll have someone to make this for ;)

I'm trying this pattern and cannot figure out what row 11 (armhole row)is saying. What does it mean to skip next 15ch2sps and then 2sc in next 11sc sts?? I must be counting wrong but i keep ending up running out of spaces to crochet the last 7scsts.
I love this pattern and i'm making it for my little girl for her first birthday! :)

Thanks,
